![]() ![]() I am so, so happy Maureen Johnson changed her mind and wrote The Last Little Blue Envelope. I first read it three years ago, I think, and at that time there wasn't going to be a second book. The end left me begging for more, for closure. It probably won't surprise you that I didn't enjoy the end of 13 Little Blue Envelopes as much as I enjoyed the rest of the book. They don't have to be happy, but there has to be some sort of closure. ![]() ![]() I want the things that I watch and read to have endings. I'm one of those people who likes closure. Ginny finds she must hold on to her wits. But instead of ending her journey, the last letter starts a new adventure-one filled with old friends, new loves, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Finally, Ginny can finish what she started. Months later, a mysterious boy contacts Ginny from London, saying he's found her bag. ![]() When someone stole Ginny's backpack-and the last little blue envelope inside-she resigned herself to never knowing how it was supposed to end. She spent last summer traveling around Europe, following the tasks her aunt Peg laid out in a series of letters before she died. ![]() ![]() Brooklyn seems as good a place as any to do that, especially when he meets his new neighbor, sexy single dad Gavin Gillis and the sparks fly. ![]() And he’s hoping it’ll be the last, all he wants is a chance to put down roots. Hudson Newgate is the perpetual new guy, perpetually being traded, he’s making yet another new start for Brooklyn. They both quickly wormed their way into my heart and I loved reading their story. I think Wes and Jamie will always take the top spot for me but Gavin and Hudson certainly gave them a run for their money. ![]() It’s not just a new M/M book from Sarina Bowen but a new M/M hockey book – score! And I have to say, it lived up to my expectations. Swoon! Considering Him/Us is my favorite M/M story and was co-written by Sarina Bowen, you can just imagine my excitement when this book was first announced. I don’t remember the moment he went from being my obsession to becoming my dream. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's the one I listened to, but there are plenty of playlists to choose from, just search the name of the book. If you're thinking of reading it, I totally recommend you first locate a playlist from Spotify including most of the music mentioned in the book. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami is a sci-fi fiction novel, originally published in Japan in three parts, and later compiled into a single volume for the English translation. ![]() ![]() The difference is that when tasting the cake, you take a bite and savor its layers whereas, in the book, you might read it one time and get a sense of the layers of stories created by the writer, but once you go for it a second time, you realize how little you really understood on that first round! That's why I not only read this book but later listened to it, in order to feel I was ready to share my opinion which is: If you like scrumptious thousand leaves cakes, you should definitely try this one! And if you'd like whipped cream on top, then accompany your reading with one of Spotify's playlists based on the songs mentioned in the book (more info coming). To start with, both have a thousand layers, one on top of the other and endlessly going on.
